Bone density measurement is performed at various points using the DEXA (Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) method and is the test of choice for the diagnosis and monitoring of osteoporosis.
DEXA method, according to the World Health Organization - WHO, is one of the methods of choice for measuring bone density. The lower the density, the greater the likelihood of fracture (breakage).
When the loss of bone density exceeds a certain limit, the term osteoporosis is used.
Osteoporosis is a chronic disease of bone metabolism, in which there is a gradual decrease in their density and quality, resulting in them becoming more fragile and thin over time.
