A pathological condition in which the finger is blocked when it bents or / and throws out when it's stretched.
It is mainly due to the blockage of the tendon responsible for its flexion. It's blocked and cannot longer "slide" freely within the sheath that surrounds it, and thus swells and becomes blocked.
The disease is most common in women over 50 years old; diabetics with low thyroid function and reumatoid arthritis' patients.
Treatment may be conservative or surgical.
One common disorder that causes numbness (tingling), reduced sensation (hypesthesia) and pain, especially during the night, in the hand and forearm.
That mainly occurs when pressure is exercised in one of the biggest nerves, the middle nerve, of the hand..
In most patients this syndrome worsens gradually and if it's not properly treated it may lead to finger loss of sensation and weakness.
Thus, it is highly recommended to be properly diagnosed and treated.
A condition in which two tendons of the thumb are affected at the level of the wrist.
It induces pain and swelling at thumb's base, difficulty in thumb usage and mainly of the wrist during its attempt to retain and arrest.
If it is not properly treated, as the time passes by, pain is increased, that reflects in the forearm, making thumb and wrist movement increasingly difficult.
It is treated conservatively and surgically.
