Colonoscopy
Colonoscopy examination is one of the most important tools for monitoring the health of the colon, especially for the prevention and early diagnosis of pathologies such as polyps or cancer.
At IATROKOSMOS, we offer endoscopic examinations such as colonoscopy with an emphasis on safety, patient comfort and high diagnostic accuracy.
The main indication for colonoscopy is the prevention of colon cancer.
What is colonoscopy?
Colonoscopy is endoscopic study of the inner wall of the large intestine and the final part of the small intestine. It allows for immediate imaging, biopsies and – in many cases – polyp removal, thus offering the possibility of not only diagnosis but also treatment in a single step.
Why should I get a colonoscopy?
- In case of blood in the stool, changes in bowel habits or unexplained anemia, colonoscopy is the examination of choice.
- For prevention: medical guidelines recommend screening for adults over 45-50 years of age or earlier if there is a family history.
- The early detection of polyps or precancerous lesions may prevent the development of colon cancer.

Nutrition
4 days before testing
- Sauces, legumes, salads, vegetables, dairy products, meat and fish with sauces, fruits with peels and seeds, natural orange juice and sesame seeds are prohibited.
- Allowed: Boiled or grilled meat and fish, burgers, lean chicken, hard cheeses (kaseri), as well as pasta, potatoes, eggs in small regular meals, wheat bread in very small quantities.
- Clear liquids are allowed throughout the day (chamomile, tea, apple juice, water). Breakfast: Regular without dairy products.
- Lunch-Dinner: Light noodle soup.
- ATTENTION Εάν κατά τη διάρκεια της προετοιμασίας έχετε τάση προς εμετό μπορείτε να πάρετε δισκίο CILROTON εφ άπαξ. Προσπαθήστε να περπατάτε από δωμάτιο σε δωμάτιο κατά τη λήψη του καθαρτικού. Ο καθαρισμός μετά από κάθε κένωση να γίνεται με χλιαρό νερό, χωρίς χρήση χαρτιού.

ΕΑΝ ΤΟ ΚΑΘΑΡΤΙΚΟ ΠΟΥ ΕΧΕΤΕ ΠΡΟΜΗΘΕΥΤΕΙ ΕΙΝΑΙ ΤΟ FORTRANS Ή ΤΟ EFFECOL PREP Ή ΤΟ KLEAN PREP
- Αν η εξέταση είναι προγραμματισμένη 7:00-11:00: Στις 16:00 την προηγούμενη μέρα αδειάστε το περιεχόμενο των 4 φακέλων το καθένα σε 1 λίτρο νερό και πιείτε σε διάστημα 7-8 ωρών.
- Αν η εξέταση είναι προγραμματισμένη 11:30-15:00: Στις 16:00 την προηγούμενη μέρα αδειάστε το περιεχόμενο 3 φακέλων το καθένα σε 1 λίτρο νερό και πιείτε το σε διάστημα 6 ωρών. Στις 05:00 το πρωί της εξέτασης αδειάστε το περιεχόμενο του 4ου φακέλου σε 1 λίτρο νερό και πιείτε το σε διάστημα 2 ωρών.
- Αν η εξέταση είναι προγραμματισμένη 07:00 -10 :00 Στις 15:00 την παραμονή της εξέτασης αδειάστε την 1 η φιάλη στο κύπελλο και γεμίζετε με νερό μέχρι την στάθμη (500 ml) . Πιείτε το σε διάστημα 1 ώρας. Στην συνέχεια πιείτε 3-4 κύπελλα νερό μέσα στις επόμενες 2 ώρες (συνολικά 1,5 -2 λίτρα ). Στις 21:00 λαμβάνετε τη 2 η φιάλη με τον ίδιο τρόπο . Πιείτε μέχρι 3-4 κύπελλα με νερό μέσα στις επόμενες 2 ώρες (συνολικά 1,5 -2 λίτρα ).
- Αν η εξέταση είναι προγραμματισμένη 11:00 – 15:00 Στις 18:00 την παραμονή της εξέτασης αδειάστε την 1 η φιάλη στο κύπελλο και γεμίζετε με νερό μέχρι την στάθμη (500 ml) . Complex endoscopic procedures performed with colonoscopy, in addition to polypectomy, include dilation of strictures, thermocautery of angiodysplasias, hemorrhoid ligation, and botox injection into fissures.
