FNA Thyroid Aspiration
Specialized Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) examination of the thyroid gland, performed to obtain material from the thyroid nodule for histological examination.
This method is the most reliable method for detecting possible thyroid neoplasia (thyroid cancer).
This puncture is performed under ultrasound guidance, while as a method it is painless and causes minimal injury to the patient, while there are no complications due to the puncture (e.g. swelling, inflammation, etc.).
At our clinic, we may also take a biopsy (the cost is additional to the original testing).

Generally, no special preparation is required. Only if you are taking anticoagulant treatment, should you inform us so that we can recommend when you should discontinue it.
The days required to discontinue anticoagulant treatment depend on the medication you have been prescribed and always under the guidance of your treating physician.

The test is safe. Some patients may experience mild pain in the region for a few hours after the puncture.
