Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are infections that are transmitted mainly through sexual contact and are caused by bacteria, viruses, parasites or fungi.

The most common sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are: gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, genital herpes, trichomonads, HPV and HIV/AIDS

They are transmitted mainly through contact of genitals, blood, semen, and vaginal fluids during sexual intercourse.

Usually, STDs have no or mild symptoms, so they go unrecognized. When symptoms do occur, they usually include genital discharge, sores, itching, irritation, and pain during urination or intercourse.
